About This Course

Blood transfusion is a critical, life-saving intervention, but it is also a high-risk clinical procedure requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and rapid clinical decision-making.

This CPD course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to ensure safe transfusion practices, early recognition of complications, and immediate clinical response.

The course provides a structured approach to transfusion safety, beginning with pre-transfusion verification, including patient identification and compatibility checks, followed by safe administration techniques, monitoring protocols, and documentation standards.

Special emphasis is placed on recognizing and managing transfusion reactions such as:

• Acute hemolytic reactions
• Febrile non-hemolytic reactions
• Allergic and anaphylactic reactions
• Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI)
